Shatin to Central Link Tsz Wan Shan Hoarding Drawing Competition Prize Presentation Ceremony (12 April 2013)
The 12 outstanding drawings below have won from over 500 submissions for the SCL Tsz Wan Shan Hoarding Drawing Competition!
The competition was a great success thanks to the enthusiastic participation of the students in Tsz Wan Shan District. Judges from the Corporation, the Wong Tai Sin District Council, and the Wong Tai Sin District Office have chosen the champion, the 1st and 2nd runner up, and the three Merit Awards for the Primary and Secondary School Sections respectively.
The prize presentation ceremony was held on 12 April at Tsz Wan Shan (South) Community Centre. Guests from the Wong Tai Sin District Council, Wong Tai Sin District Office, and Highways Department presented certificates to encourage the winners to keep up their good works and to build a better society. The winning pieces will be displayed on the hoardings of SCL works sites in Tsz Wan Shan.
Winners were awarded certificates in the prize presentation ceremony.

Second Round of Station Information Zone on Modification Works of the Ma On Shan Line
The 2nd round of Station Information Zone will be toured at the nine stations of Ma On Shan Line from 9 April to 29 April 2013 so passengers could learn more about the modification works along Ma On Shan Line. Passengers are welcome to talk with our engineers and learn more about the upcoming works at these stations.
Lunar New Year Fun Day by the S.K.H. Good Shepherd Primary School
(6 February 2013)
To maintain close contact with the community, MTR SCL projects team and contractor Samsung - Hsin Chong Joint Venture of the Kowloon City Section participated in the Lunar New Year Fun Day organised by the S.K.H. Good Shepherd Primary School. We shared the joy of Lunar New Year with students and enhanced their knowledge of SCL by playing booth games.
Public Forum on SCL by Sha Tin District Council's Working Group on Development of Major Transport Infrastructures in Sha Tin District
(3-4 February 2013)
To enhance public awareness on the SCL and strengthen communications with the community, MTR engineers attended two rounds of public forums organized by the Working Group on Development of Major Transport Infrastructure in Sha Tin District under Sha Tin District Council at Fortune City One and Hin Keng Shopping Centre respectively. Public enquiries were addressed in the forums. Panels were exhibited on-site to provide update on the latest progress of the project.
"Railway Know It All" Colouring Competition
- The Corporation received over 5,000 entries for the "Railway Know It All" Colouring Competition and the results were announced. Each winner is awarded a certificate and a prize. Thank you for the enthusiastic participation!
Shatin to Central Link Information Centre Opening (15 October 2012)
To maintain close contact with the community, the SCL Information Centre is opened at the Kowloon City district on 15 October. Representatives from Kowloon City District Council, District Office, related government departments and the contractor of SCL were invited to join the opening ceremony to commemorate the opening of the centre.
Public are welcomed to visit the SCL Information Centre for the latest project information and publications.

Station Information Zones on Ma On Shan Line Modification Works
In order to accommodate for the future operations of the SCL, modification works will be carried out at stations along the Ma On Shan Line, including extension of the station platforms and roofs, retrofitting of automatic platform gates as well as enhancement of electrical and mechanical facilities. Station Information Zones on Ma On Shan Line Modification Works are to be held along the Ma On Shan Line stations on a regular basis. The kick-off ceremony was held on 10 Oct. The first round of information zones will be toured along the 9 stations of the Ma On Shan Line on specific dates between 10 Oct to 15 Nov. Passengers are welcome to join and learn more about the modification works and share with us.
Construction works begin at Tsz Wan Shan (4 October 2012)
Wong Tai Sin District Council Chairman Mr Li Tak-hong, MH, JP, Vice Chairman Dr Wong Kam-chiu, MH, Chairman of Traffic and Transport Committee Mr Joe Lai Wing-ho, and other Councillors celebrated with the MTR construction team for the commencement of the Improvement Works on Pedestrian Link Facilities in Tsz Wan Shan. A traditional bai sun ceremony took place at Po Kong Village Road works site on 4 October to wish for smooth construction works.
Entrusted by the Government, MTR Corporation will carry out improvement works on pedestrian facilities to enhance the connectivity between Tsz Wan Shan and Diamond Hill Station of the Shatin to Central Link. The works are expected to be completed in phase between 2014 and 2016.
" Railway Know It All " Comic
To translate complicated railway knowledge into easily understandable language, the MTR Corporation, cooperated with the Technological and Higher Education Institute of Hong Kong (THEi) and the Hong Kong Design Institute (HKDI), invites a group of Higher Diploma students studying in Creative Media to create a series of comic stories on railway related topics. Starting from September 2012, not only at the Corporation's new railway project websites where you can find these fun and creative stories, they are also available on newspaper to introduce railway knowledge. The comics will be printed and distributed to schools, libraries and youth centres.

Shatin to Central Link Tsz Wan Shan Hoarding Drawing Competition (2012)
The Corporation organises the "Shatin to Central Link Tsz Wan Shan Hoarding Drawing Competition" to enhance students' understanding of the Shatin to Central Link (SCL).
Students in the Tsz Wan Shan area are invited to submit drawings with the theme "Better Connectivity with New Railway Line". Awarded entries will have the chance to be displayed on the hoardings of the SCL construction sites in Tsz Wan Shan, making the community more lively colourful.

The SCL Project Ground Breaking Ceremony (22 June 2012)
The Chief Secretary for Administration of the HKSAR Government Mr Stephen Lam, Secretary for Transport and Housing Ms Eva Cheng, the Chairman of MTR Corporation Dr Raymond Ch'ien, Chief Executive Officer Mr Jay Walder officiated at the Ground Breaking Ceremony of the SCL project with over 100 guests from the community and the government joined to witness the important milestone of the project on 22 June, which marked the commencement of construction work.
CEO Mr Jay Walder and Projects Director Mr T C Chew also led the SCL Project team together with the officials of the Highways Department in the Bai Sun Ceremony before the Ground Breaking to pray for smooth and safe construction for the SCL.

Exhibition on Shatin Section of the SCL by Shatin District Council (July–August 2011)
We supported the "Exhibition on Shatin Section of the Shatin to Central Link", organised by Shatin District Council, at Hin Keng Shopping Centre and Ma On Shan Plaza in order to raise public awareness on the SCL.
Engagement with CUHK Architecture Students (Jan–May 2011)
As part of its community engagement programme, the Corporation supported the architectural course "Links and Hubs" offered by the School of Architecture, the Chinese University of Hong Kong. Students of the course were exposed to strategic railway planning, design and development through visits to railway facilities as well as constructive exchange with MTR railway professionals. They also came up with architectural proposals for stations along the Shatin to Central Link.
School Talks
In order to enhance the acknowledgement of new railway projects among the young generation, school talks introducing the SCL were organized for secondary and primary schools.
Chai Wan Barging Point and Tsing Yi Batching Plant Visit (18 September 2009)
During construction of the SCL, certain sites along the railway alignment will be used as temporary works areas for storing machinery and materials. A visit was organised to Chai Wan Barging Point and Tsing Yi Batching Plant for members of Kowloon City District Council and representatives of Owner’s Committee in Kowloon City District, to provide more details on the operations of construction facilities and all necessary measures to minimize the project's impact on the public and the environment.
